Archive: Adword Abuse

Very disappointed at Google Adword right now learn from my mistake

I have not been in to Google for a while it’s my mistake I know I should have. I went in today to pause one site that we are updating.

I saw this new function (for me) that now you can see where the clicks come from on content network and o man o man what a nightmare

Let me just say that 90 % of the sites where Arab Mp3 download sites even if I have put the countries to western they still live there I guess and they watch these sites.

But how they get Thai Flowers to Arab Mp3 I do not know.

Most of the sites violated Adsense rules 2 or 3 times with pop up ads with Google and pictures on the ads or near the ads. Many CTR was 100 %

Lucky for me the money was not that big and I sent a report to Adword but they are going to say as normal nothing wrong nothing wrong.

Here are some of the quality sites Google Adword presented me for the Keyword Thailand Florists

I blocked them off course but I guess I have to keep blocking them to not get tricked.

Check out the sites below it is very bad sites

Ad Traffic Quality Resource Center

Finally Google has launched the Ad Traffic Quality Resource Center, an online “resource center” concerning click fraud. Pay-per-click advertising is the main source of income for Google Adword and I am sure they would hate to see customer run away from them. As they biggest player on the market if someone want to fraud they will do it with them. They have the same problem as Microsoft you do not miss a big target that east.

But in the long run for Google it is us the customer that have to pay more inform of Adword bills. I know have many time written to the Adword team and everytime there has been no problem what so ever with the clicks, even if know it has.

Some people think that the click fraud is about 30 % and with that high number Google is doing what anyone would do they going on a offieince with start of this website.

In the News it also saysthat this is the latest of click-fraud tools that Google has been making avialbe to us advertisers but if you ask me I have not seen any others.

If you want to know more take a look at Google Adwords

Google Adword standard abuse

I got a response to my letter to Google Adword were I told them that I suspect click fraud and that’s why I did not want to waste more money on the Adword account they mentioned.

Of course it was a standard letter same as I got last time were they talk about how safe Google Adword is and I do not have to worry about clicks. But the thing is I get a lot of nonsense clicks on my account and never any orders and I do not think there will be that many people looking for a Bangkok Florist.

My logic is pretty simple I sell Flowers to Thailand and I have adverts out everyday and everyday my budget is used. That means that there are always new people that looking for a Bangkok Florist and I do not think that is very credibale. Off course there is Thai Florists clicking on my ads.

Here is the standard letter from Google Adword

Hello Andre,

Thank you for your email. I understand you’re concerned about the
possibility of invalid click activity on your ads in the campaign
‘Flowers.’

Please note that each click on an AdWords ad is examined by our system.
Google looks at numerous data points for each click, including the IP
address, the time of the click, any duplicate clicks, and various other
click patterns. Our system then analyzes these factors to isolate and
filter out invalid clicks that fit a pattern of use intended to
artificially drive up an advertiser’s clicks or impressions, or a
publisher’s earnings.

If you notice click activity that doesn’t fit your usual patterns, please
keep the following factors in mind:

- Return visits: Individual users may legitimately click on your ad more
than one time when comparison shopping or returning to your site for more
information.

- Shared IPs: Multiple clicks from a single source may be due to an
Internet Service Provider (ISP) assigning identical IP addresses to
multiple users. Certain ISPs, such as AOL, distribute a relatively small
number of shared, rotating IP addresses to a large number of users. As a
result, multiple visitors may access your site from identical IP
addresses, giving the impression of repeated clicks from a single visitor.

- Web server logs: Your site’s web server logs include data for all
visitors to your site, not just those who arrived after clicking on an
AdWords ad. You may also see ‘Google.com’ referrers from users who reached
your site via the Google search results. Please be assured that your
account would only be charged for clicks your ads received.

To track only AdWords clicks in your web server logs, you may want to
consider using tracking URLs and your web server logs’ referrer headers.
For more information, visit Google

Please be assured that the security of AdWords advertisers is a top
priority for Google, and we will continue to monitor all clicks on your
ads to prevent abuse. For more information about our click monitoring
system, visit Google Support

If you still suspect that your ads have received invalid clicks, visit for
instructions on how to contact our Google Adword Click Quality Team.

We look forward to providing you with the most effective advertising
available.

Sincerely,

Lalita
The Google AdWords Team
